This past Sunday offered a beautiful afternoon in Huntington, WV.
It was a great opportunity to drive downtown to meet with other people
who are working to showcase why living in Huntington can truly be
wonderful! While there may have only been a few of us, it was
refreshing to chat with others about why they thought Huntington was a
great place to call home. It was also a chance for me to take a few
pictures along the riverfront as I found the tulips fully in bloom.
As I look around this city lately it is as if I am seeing Huntington for the first time. I have lived here for almost 13 years and only within the last few months have I truly begun to see it’s beauty. It started on another Sunday afternoon last Fall with a Flickr meet up and has continued as I have become involved with the Create Huntington group. The Flickr meet up brought photographers of all ages together to spend the day taking pictures of the rose garden in Ritter Park, followed by a very friendly dinner at the Marshall Cafe. While we were strangers at the beginning of the day, we were friends by the end.
When you spend time with others who are looking at what is “good” about your hometown, you can only begin to see the “good.” It’s amazing how that always seems to happen … I wonder what future Sunday afternoons will bring?

I agree, as much as I was digging Huntington before hand the more I hang out with like minded people the better I feel about the place. I think that's why all these initiatives are so important; they provide folks with an opportunity to spread their positive attitude.
